The

GLOBAL COACHING INDEX (GCI) SYSTEM

A revolutionary assessment system that measures and scales
coaching effectiveness for leaders and organizations

The background and inspiration

There has been a global upsurge of demand for coaching, especially in the business world in the last few years and this trend will continue as the need for human connections and creating human-centered organizations continue to grow. According to ICF Global, coaching is one of the fastest growing industries. The estimated market size of coaching is expected to reach $20 billion USD by 2022, a testament that more organizations and individuals are using coaching services.

Alongside this upsurge, there has been a growing quest for metrics to measure coaching impact and return on investment (ROI). This is because coaching does not come cheap and therefore organizations that invest in coaching want to reap a worthwhile return on Investment (RoI).

Some of the critical questions have been:

  1. Are the leaders coaching and if yes to what extent? What’s their level of effectiveness?
  2. How well are the leaders living out the coaching philosophy and role modelling this to their teams?
  3. What’s the impact of coaching to businesses – engagement, productivity, profitability, leadership bench, etc.?
  4. How well has an organization embraced and embedded coaching? How well is coaching entrenched as a leadership culture?
  5. How can leaders and organizations identify the priority developmental gaps to address in order to scale the level of coaching and leadership?
  6. How can leaders multiply themselves more through coaching? Leaders who have embraced coaching as a leadership style would also like to know how well they are aligned to the coaching philosophy, as well as how to keep growing and deepening their coaching impact.

Alongside this upsurge, there has been a growing quest for metrics to measure coaching impact and return on investment (ROI).
This is because coaching does not come cheap and therefore organizations that invest in coaching want to reap a worthwhile return on Investment (RoI).

WHAT IS THE
GLOBAL COACHING INDEX (GCI) SYSTEM?

The GCI System is a revolutionary ecosystem that encompasses three proprietary assessment tools and an ICF-Accredited practitioner training program. Both the assessment tool and the practitioner program are based on the coaching competency framework for leaders (developed by Eileen Laskar in 2020). The aforementioned coaching competency framework for leaders is primarily derived and anchored on the ICF Coaching Competency Model (2019).

The Coaching Competency Framework for Leaders

The coaching competency framework for leaders constitutes the mindset, language, posture, capabilities, and behaviors that are critical for leaders to be able to develop, maintain and lead with a coaching disposition. This framework has six (6) critical pillars and thirty(30) dimensions of coaching growth and development in a leadership context. They include:

  1. The Leader’s Coaching Foundation
  2. The Leader’s Trust Account
  3. Leadership Presence and Communication
  4. The Leader’s Ability to Inspire Creativity and Innovation
  5. The Leader’s Capability to Facilitate Learning and Multiply Leaders
  6. TheLeader’s Capability to Scale Learning, through Ownership and Accountability

The Global Coaching Index (GCI) Ecosystem

The Leader Coaching Index (LCI) assessment provides every leader with a metric for their coaching disposition – the mindset, language, posture, capabilities, and behaviors. The leader can then determine their strengths and opportunities for growing their coaching capability to maximize their leadership effectiveness.
The Team Coaching Index (TCI) assessment provides a cumulative metric on the coaching index of a specific leadership team/cluster within an organization. This assessment determines the leadership team’s strengths and opportunities for growth.
The Organization Coaching Index (OCI) assessment is a cumulative metric for leaders in an organization that helps establish, monitor, and grow the coaching index of the entire organization. Further, it gives an indication of the extent to which coaching has been entrenched in an organization.
To ensure the highest levels of standards, the coaching index technical tool is only administered by experienced and certified coaching practitioners who meet the strict criteria established by CDI-Africa Coaching Group. Further, these coaches must successfully complete the rigorous – The Global Coaching Index (GCI) Practitioner program to become certified as GCI practitioners.
The Global Coaching Index (GCI) Practitioner Program is an advanced coaching mastery program accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and developed by Eileen Laskar, the brain behind the GCI system. The program has a total of 36 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units, and is uniquely designed to develop, equip and multiply certified GCI practitioner coaches who can effectively administer the GCI assessment system globally.
